ALCS & NLCS.

Now the LCS's for both National and American League are now set its going to be interesting to see who is going to make it to the Fall Classic.

NLCS: DODGERS & PHILLIES!

As I said yesterday I can't root for the Phillies as i cant stand any of the Philly teams. Plus it would be great to see Manny walk all over the Phillies. Even though Torre is no longer the Yankees manager i would like to see him win the WS with the Dodgers. Also, it would be great to see Don Mattingly get a WS ring with that club. Donny is one of my all time fave Yankees. I believe the Dodgers pitching is hotter than the Phillies team is.

So my NLCS winner is: Los Angeles Dodgers.

Big shout out to my mate Mikey who is a big Dodger fan and a serving aircraftsman in the RAF.

ALCS: RED SOX & RAYS!

Ok, eventually the ALCS has been decided after a game 4 in the ALDS series. Now this is not a difficult one for me being a Yankees fan. I hope and pray to god that the Tampa Bay Rays kick some Red Sox butt and beat them. The Rays looks so difficult to beat atm. The starting rotation to me looks strong and the pen is a lot better than the bpsux. The Boston pen looks really weak, has trouble keeping runs or hitters off the base and running the base paths.

I can't believe that i am going to say this as they are both the divisional rivals

ALCS winner: Tampa Bay Rays.

So i am hoping for what i am going to call it: The Coast to Coast World Series.

My WS winner is the Dodgers.

*disclaimer* my predictions are never really good so play no attention to them. LOL.

Postseason 08 and Yankee Stadium.

Hey sorry, its been so so long since i last made an entry on this blog. I was really pissed off at the Yankees for not making it to the postseason this year. I was really sad on the last game at Yankee Stadium, i couldn't believe that this was going to be the last game at the old cathedral. The game was a really great game and with Andy Pettitte on the mound and then Mo "The Sandman" Rivera being the last pitcher to close the old stadium was really great. At least the team got the win and who would have thought it that the last ever home run to be hit in the ballpark would have Jose Molina. At the start of the game i said to myself that the last homer would be hit by A-Rod. The closing ceremony at the start of the game was brilliant and with the old timers as well as family of the passed old timers being there was awesome. Also to see Bernie "Burn Bernie Burn" Williams back in the stadium was just brilliant. One of the moments that will stick in my mind was when Willie Randolph was announced, he took to the field and slid into 2nd base, the applause he got was brilliant.

I will miss the old stadium but when Jeter went to the mound and addressed the fans with an amazing speech. Saying that the memories of the old stadium should be taken to the new and to pass the memories down through the generations. It gave me goosebumps and also had me in floods of tears.

I will bleed Yankee blue til my passing and will remember the old stadium with fond memories. Onwards and upwards to the New Yankee Stadium, making new memories to be passed down.

Now onto whats going on in the Postsesason 08. I still cant believe that the Postseason has arrived it only seem like a few weeks since the season started. Now its almost come to an end.

Now that the Yankees are not in the post season i will be following the Dodgers will great interest. I am not one of these glory hunter fans, the Dodgers are my NL team. It was great to see them make it to the NLDS and wipe the floor with the Cubs. For the cubs its going to be now 101 years of hurt. I thought they may have had great chance in the PS but it didnt happen as i thought the stars where in allignment to break the curse.

They going to be facing the freaking Phillies in the NLCS. Sorry Phillies fans i really hope you lose. I just have something against teams from Philly, Eagles and Flyers. YUCK.

As i am typing this i dont know what the ALCS is going to be. So i wont make any comment til its over.

Can i say congratulations to my NFL team in the NY Giants for having a great start to defending their Superbowl crown. 4-0 so far and basically walking over the Seahawks on Sunday afternoon.

As a girl i am asked all the time why i am a baseball fan. I just say i am and i love it. Soccer used to be my number 1 sport but now its baseball all the way.

To end this blog, I would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU. To everyone on mlb.com/live for a brilliant postseason show. It's been invaluable to me here in the UK to keep me up to date with whats happening in games.  So, thank you to all On Air Talent and most importantly to the studio operations crew for putting it together. You all are working hard and long hours for us all and you dont get the pub that you deserve.

Lataz everyone.

Ponson.

I am having to eat my own crow after Sidney Ponson pitched a good game last night. Pitching 6.1 innings only giving up 3 earned runs, getting out of a jam in 1st and 2nd innings. Sidney you were the saving grace last night to stop the slide on the 10 day road trip. My hat if i was wearing one goes off to you too going back to the club that released you and pitching a good game.

It was a worrying time at the bottom of the 2nd, after Abreu throw from the left field to home to get out David Murphy. Abreu made an amazing throw to home plate to Pudge to get Murphy out at home, Pudge caught the throw he blocked the plate, Murphy ran straight into Pudge and basically both players collided. Both players banged knees together in the collision and it had them laid out on the field in agony. It looked a really bad accident and i was pray thing this wasn't another injury to a Yankee after the Joba to the 15 DL. Luckly both players got up and walked away. Pudge was removed from the game to be replaced by Jose Molina who had a really good game last night. Molina went 4-4, 1 R and 2 hits for the night.

Sadly, for David Murphy he is headed to the DL for 4-6 weeks with a strained posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. So it looks like he is out now for the season. As for Pudge in the ESPN broadcast they say its just a bruised knee, lucky he was wearing his padding or it could hve been so much worse.

Giambi keep the 'stach off you have been playing better since you got rid of the horrible facial hair.

Next up: Moose v Feldman. Lets go Moose.

To end this thing i am going to go off on a bit of rant at Rick Sutcliffe. I usually agree with most of what he says when he is analyzing a gamem but last night wasn't one of those games. Rick mentioned the Joba injury over and over again, which was infuriating whilst trying to watch the game. He kept on about he is 100% sure when Joba comes back to the team after the 15 day DL then rehab stint he will come back to the pen and will be there next season too. I kept shouting at the screen "Shut up Rick, you don't know what you are talking about." Hank and Hal want him in the starting rotation and that is where i see him being for his entire career in the majors. Rick, please don't talk about stuff that you don't know anything about.

Texas!

I am not meaning the Scottish band Texas led by Sharleen Spiteri. I am mean the Texas Rangers.

What the hell is going on with this club and not being able to pitch. Firstly Joba getting pulled due to a shoulder problem. Now he is going to Dr Andrews after the MRI. Pettitte just couldnt pull it off either.

Next up is Ponson going back to the club that released him. Just hope he can pull through to get the win to stop the slide. I am not holding out much hope but hope is all i got.

I am beginning to believe that this is all my own fault the Yankees losing. I went to the Glasgow Rangers and Liverpool soccer match on Saturday. Liverpool is 50% owned by Tom Hicks the Texas Rangers owner and 50% owned George Gillet the Habs owner. As a Liverpool fan and a Glasgow Rangers fan i couldnt decided who i wanted to win. A draw would have been nice not a 4-0 thrashing by Liverpool. So i am beginning to believe that if i wasnt a fan of one of Hicks teams this might not have happened .

So if you want to blame someone blame me I can take it.

Come on Yankees lets do this, take down the Red sox as well as the pesky Rays.

Wooohoooo and Yippppeeeee.

All i am going to say Woooooohoooo and Yippppeeee that Farnsworth has left the Yankees.

Kyle don't let the door hit you on the butt when you are leaving. Welcome Pudge to the team. Well done Cash for doing this trade. All you have to do Cash is to get a starting pitcher.

Nice win for Joba today too Arod and Abreu playing well.

The Beantown Battle - Empire v Nation. Round 3!

Ponson stunk and we lost the clean sweep. End of.

Get rid of Ponson asap as he is horrible. As soon as the Yankees signed him i thought that was a bad move. Why did Joe insist on keeping him in for 4 innings then putting Giese in. I would love to know.

I cant say too much about the game as  i am still so pissed off.

Get rid of Ponson and find another pitcher.

Next up is the O's. I hate to think what is going to happen because the O's won last night. They might be on a high.

The Beantown Battle - Empire v Nation. Round 2!

Well, what can i say about yesterdays game.

It was a tense game to start off with Andy not having total control of his pitches. Going down 2-0 with Pedrioa and Youkilis scoring at the bottom 1st. Then the team continued to the hitting streak that we have been used to since the all star break. Since the All Star break the Yankees have out scored all the teams that they have faced. They have scored 49 runs and only allowed 15 runs which is 3.27 runs to 1 run the opposition scored including last nights game. Sorry went off on a stat tangent there, I am not a big stats person and don't know where that came from.

Getting back on to track to the game.

The Yankees were playing a really good running game on Wakefield last night. In total the Yankees stole they stole 2 bases but were caught twice. Can someone tell me what has happened to Robbie Cano, homering in the lead off spot in the 4th inning and he went 3-4 in the game. The All Star break has been a god send for him and he is HOT at the moment. The only worrying thing was seeing Damon pull up last night and had to be PH by Christian. I hope that it isnt too serious as he has been good since coming off the DL.

Also, in the game it was the first game in pinstripes for the new boys, Xavier Nady and Damaso Marte. Nady slotted straight into LF which has been vacated by Brett Gardner who has been bumped back to Triple A to play day to day. Nady on the day went 0-3 with a walk and a run. Marte game in to his first game from the pen to face Big Papi and struck him out. Lets hope this is a good sign for the club.

Andy got the win for the team going 6 innings and struck out 7. Wakefield was pulled after 5 1/3 only struck out 3 and was charged with the loss. Andy is now 12-7 on the season.

Series Score: 2-0 Yankees.

Next Up: Sydney and John. I am not holding my breath for a Yankees win but who knows.

Lets go Yankees! I hope to hear the sound of the series sweep.

Also in the news: Latroy Hawkins has been designated for assigment. So bye bye Latroy you were horrible. Kei Igawa has been possibly outrighted to Triple-A to remove him from the 40-man roster. Can someone not just take him off our hands. He is horrible pitcher and if there could be a deal done that the yankees pay a portion of the contract just so hes no longer with the organisation. I would be greatful.

The Beantown Battle - Empire v Nation. Round 1!

Round 1 of the battle at Beantown went to the Yankees.

The game was just over 3 hours which was a complete suprise to me. Joba played a really good game in his first game at Fenway as a starter. Joba completely out pitched Josh in the game he went 7 innings only allowing 3 hits, 1 walk and struck out 9. Josh went 7 innings as well allowing 9 hits, 1 run and struck out only 6. The one run Josh gave up was to a Abreu on a Giambi hit.

So looking at a stat prespective it was a good game for Joba.

The only problem i had in the game was Kyle (you don't want to know the xrated name i call him) Farnsworth. Kyle came into the game 2nd pitch of the game to of all people Lowrie. He then proceeded to pitch to Varitek who lucky for Kyle pops up to Jeter. Then here comes the old Kyle who i can't stand pitched a ball to Crisp he hit it softly towards Kyle. Kyle then makes a complete hash of the situation, by picking the ball up at the 1st base line, then trying to tag out Crisp he then drops the ball and doesnt make the out. So Joe had to go to Mo to come into get a 5 out save. Which he successfully does.

So if it wasnt for the Mo and Joba combo the Yankees could have lost the game.

Series score at the moment: 1 -0 Yankees.

As for Sundays game it looks like it could be Ponson and Lester going at it. So its going to be a test for the Yankees and Ponson. Please pray this is a good game for Ponson.

Lets Go Yankees.

Andy and Tim next up.

Report to follow tomorrow.

The Beantown Battle - Empire v Nation.

It is that time of season again when the Yankees and the Bosox go to battle. The venue for this battle is Fenway Park. I love the rivalry between these clubs and it goes back for years and i hate the name that the Yankees got from the Red sox President Larry Lucchino. The Evil Empire name came due to the bitterness of Larry speaking to the New York Times because the Red Sox lost out to the Yankees in a battle in a bidding war for pitcher José Contreras. All i can say its is total sour grapes and look at the Yankees 26 World Series rings compaired to a measley 7. So this comment from Larry has added more spice to the battle that was already there. I sometimes wonder if there will be a bloodbath in one of these games. You'll never know until the teams are in the heat of the battle what the adrenaline can do to a player.  I know from my soccer fandom how bad rivalries can be.

So this series is going to be really hard fought and long. I suggest that you take some painkillers or have a quilt, duvet or a doona ready for this series so if you nod off to sleep you are comfortable. Other things that you can do to keep yourself awake is keep pinching yourself or load up on caffine either coffee, Red Bull or something else. Sadly the caffine thing is out for me as i can't touch the stuff.  I haven't know a game to be short from my experience i would say 3 - 4 hrs is a likely length of the game. The ESPN Sunday game is going to be broadcast here in the UK so i will lose alot of sleep this weekend.

OK the Pitching match ups are really good.

In the Leading Off spot pitching wise is the futures of both teams in Joba Chamberlain v Josh Beckett.

Joba so far this season is 2-3 with a 2.52 era, Beckett is 9-6 with a 3.98 ERA. So its going to be a close one Joba so far has not given up more than three earned runs in any of his starts. Beckett in seven Fenway starts, he is 5-1 with a 4.82 ERA but bad news for the Yankees hes 3-0 against this season with a 3.92 ERA. So this is going to be a close one to call its just who gets on top with first pitch strikes will win the battle.

Result: 1-0 Yankees, I hope but its going to be close. Score i dont know and wont predict it.

Saturdays game is going to be the two experienced men in the Red Sox and Yankees battle in Tim Wakefield and Andy Pettitte.

Tim is so far this season is 6-7 with a 3.69 ERA and the knuckleballer is a difficult one to decide on for me. Andy record this season so far is 11-7 with a 3.86 ERA. Andy in his last game in Oakland he played a very good game and struck out five of the first 11 hitters in the 114-pitch outing. The Yankees didn't need to go to the pen in that game.

Result:  2-0. Andy should walk over Tim but who knows.

Sundays game is going to be crucial for the team. As of writing this the Yankees hadnt put up on their website who was going to be the pitcher for this game so who know. I hope its not Sydney. Who ever it will be will be against the come back kid from cancer in John Lester. I am in two minds for this game, i have Lester on a fantasy team against my No Red sox rule. I want the Yankees to win of course first and formost.

Result:  unknown due to the fact of not know who Lester is going to be facing.

So with the stage set for the battle. Let the Battle commence.

I hope to hear LETS GO YANKEES from the ballpark.  Also i want to see A-rod hit a few over the Green Monster and maybe foul a ball of to hit the Boston mascot Wally. That mascot is so stupid. Lucky the Yankees are so classy they dont have a mascot the team is enough to get the fans excited.

To finish off . There is a God after a certain person did something that i wanted him to do and call out the stupid (beeping) a*****e live on the programme today. Good on you.
